Rev. Canon Professor John J. M. Martey, FCG
Professor of Management | Fellow, Chartered Governance Institute | Consultant | Priest | Education Innovator
Rev. Canon Professor John J. M. Martey is a distinguished academic, management consultant, and priest with decades of leadership and teaching experience across higher education and industry.
He is a Professor of Management and Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute (UK & Ireland), bringing over 40 years of expertise in governance, strategy, corporate finance, and organisational leadership to his students and clients.
Professor Martey served as Rector of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) formerly the Institute of Professional Studies from 2001 to 2008, where he led transformative institutional growth.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, UPSA honoured him in 2017 with a faculty block and commemorative bust in his name.
A passionate advocate for lifelong learning, he has founded several educational institutions, including Mars Senior High School (1974), Holy Spirit School (2003), Holy Spirit Online (2019), and CDC Professional Courses Online (2021).
His leadership journey also includes roles as:
- Senior Lecturer & Founding Director, Centre for Continuing Education, Methodist University Ghana (2012–2017)
- Senior Lecturer & Founding Head, Department of Management Studies, Methodist University Ghana (2009–2012)
- Founder & CEO, Corporate Developments Consultants Ltd., Accra
As an Education Outreach Advisor with the Ureka Education Group (UK, India, Dubai), Professor Martey designed the acclaimed Global Business Strategy and Governance programme, earning recognition as Ureka’s First Outreach Advisor of the Month in 2018.
